Welcome, partners and friends, to our 1st quarterly RV Industry newsletter! December is here, it's been an unusual year, and we're rolling with the punches. Even with 2 months of shut-downs, 2020 is showing record RV shipments and sales.
In this issue, we'll answer common industry questions, introduce our first Partner highlight, and invite you and your team to an RV industry-focused webinar where YOU ask the questions!
Finally, we know many of you have similar questions: How do we find qualified technicians and retain them when the market is so competitive? We'd like to hear from you on what's worked, what hasn't, and how we can support the efforts.
Partnership Highlights
The Priority RV Network (PRVN) is an outstanding Omnia partner. Since 1997, dealers have sold more than 1.5 million RVs. PRVN has 130+ locations throughout the USA and the finest emergency service network of dealerships in the USA!
Priority RV Network’s mission is to provide innovative, convenient, value-driven programs to an exclusive nationwide dealer network creating a competitive advantage for its members while providing value to their customers.
One way to support that mission is having the right people in the right positions and keeping them challenged and happy.
Dear Omnia, from a sales leader's viewpoint, what is the one thing (or two) that leaders can do to support success?
Answer: First, it's important to avoid a one-size-fits-all approach. Get to know your people and their natural tendencies. Varying your coaching, communication, and motivational tactics to meet their needs will get you further than trying to fit everyone into the same mold.
Secondly, nothing cures a bad day like a closed deal. But, in trying times, we need to find other ways to define our competitive salespeople's success. What else can you measure as a win? Customer retention, quality of work, recognition, getting people involved with new projects, or even contributing to other areas when the numbers aren't there?
Need to Know
2020 has been far different than any of us could've imagined. RV wholesale shipments in March 2020 decreased -20.3% from March 2019 (RVIA.org). Then deliveries in June resulted in the best month in 2020, with the highest monthly total since October 2018. As of September 2020, RV shipments have increased 31.2% over the previous year. What started as a huge challenge has boomed into one of the biggest travel industries with the best sales in decades.
Unlike 2008-2009, the demand is high, and the supply is dwindling. This leads to new challenges in sales. We'd love to hear from you:
How are sales at your dealership?
How are your salespeople managing the changing environment?
What are your biggest people problems, and have they changed significantly over 2020?
What is new versus what is similar to the 2008 financial crisis?
DECEMBER 3, 2020: You're invited to an RV industry-specific webinar to answer your most pressing questions. If you've joined us before, this will be similar to our "Ask the Experts" but focused on your industry. We have several questions planned but invite you to submit questions when you register or add them live during the event.
